Who's spiking the tea at the Tea Party

I guess what the great Mr.Mencken proclaimed back in the early part of the 20th century still holds true today (although today political correctness would require that women be added to the brew).
Meet Sharron Angle, Tea Party favorite and challenger for the senate post now precariously held by Nevada's Harry Reid . An ex-assembly woman, she has a knack for putting her foot in her mouth with an adroitness that would put the blush to a Nixon or a Bush. This same woman who has captured the hearts, minds and bowels of  the state's chicken coop cleaners, sheep peddlers and horse manure connoisseurs, seems not to know what side she's on or what script she should be following. Take for example her description of the of BP's $20 billion  compensation of the victims of the Gulf Oil spill as a "slush fund". Or her desire to phase out Social Security ; she is also for the elimination of the Environmental Protection Agency (there I might agree with her after experiencing first hand the wonderful job the agency did following the September 11th attacks); she has hinted that G-d himself takes an active interest in her campaign (in a related story it is reported that G-d has retained famed abaggado  Bruce Cutler to investigate whether there is grounds for a libel against Ms. Angle). I would think that such views, with the exception of the EPA and quite possibly the big Man himself, would rankle the emotions of  a great many of those storied "real Americans" that are the entrails of the Tea Party movement. It does not appear so. This woman draws enthusiastic crowds wherever she stops to crow, be it at the ribbon cutting of a restored cesspool or the grand opening of a Piggly Wiggly. Undeterred by rain, snow, blistering heat, quicksand they come from miles around to to hear the profound words of a woman not fit to work as a coat check girl in a Chinese take out restaurant. But there she is, a serious contender for a senate seat  in the great state of Nevada. And here we are, scratching our heads and wondering just how low the field of politics can descend before our whole damn country becomes unglued and is hurtled onto the same path as was the downfall of Rome
